- THE RESTAURANT -
Situated in Tsim Sha Tsui East, Won Pung Won is a traditional Korean gem hidden few blocks away from the Korean district. The staff and chefs are all from Korean and the place is always filled with Korean customers. Won Pung Won may not have the best service, but the food is an absolute winner.
- THE DINNER -
The food is the biggest reasons I adore this place. First thing first, free Banchan 반찬. Once you ordered, the waiter will serve you 8 small plates filled with delicious, healthy Korean complimentary side dishes. Potato cooked in sweet soy sauce 감자조림 dnd Dried anchovy 멸치볶음 are my favourites. Apart from all the free banchan, we also ordered another warm crispy savoury scallions pancake 파전 (HKD120) that you can't stop eating. For main course, we ordered Yukhoe Bibimbap 육회비빔밥 (HKD150) and Naengmyeon 냉면 . Fresh and well-seasoned steak tartare, sweet Asian pear, and crispy julienne vegetables, all mixed into the rice with the silky egg yolk sitting on top, Yukhoe Bibimbap is the dish that I would order every time whenever I come to Won Pung Won. The Naengmyeon was a pleasant surprise. Cold, nice, chewy buckwheat noodles, sliced cucumbers, pickled radish and a boiled egg, all bathed in a tangy iced beef broth. Both of these main dishes are cold, it is perfect for the warm weather in Hong Kong. Last but definitely not the least, we ordered a wonderfully light oxtail soup (HKD 110) to end our Korean feast. Won Pung Won is a fantastic gem to bring friends for some authentic Korean food.

This restaurant is always fully booked by Korean tours during lunch time. Make sure you call and make a reservation before going. Also, you can always ask the waiter to refill your Banchan :)
