- THE RESTAURANT -
When the weather gets cold, piping hot, buzzing, numbing Sichuan food is better than a fall sweater. Sichuan Paradise, conveniently located on Lockhart Road in Wan Chai, it is only 3-minute walk from Wan Chai MTR station (Exit C). It perfectly situated for those who want to go for a comforting warm winter dinner before your crazy night out in Wan Chai. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. If you could not handle the spice, you may request the kitchen to adjust the spiciness.
- THE DINNER -
Sichuan Paradise has definitely lived up to its name. We started off the dinner with Sichuan Sliced Beef Lung & Tripe appetizer (HKD72) to warm our palates up for this spicy feast. For non-spicy eaters, my suggestion is to order the jellyfish and cucumber as a side dish to cool down your palate. The highlight of my dinner was the Poached Sliced Mandarin Fish in Spicy and Pungent Sauce (Also known as Sichuan Water Boiled Fish) (HKD248). Tender fish slices bathed in an aromatic soup made of Sichuan chili paste, peppercorn and mountain of dried chilies. Each bite finished with a fiery and tongue numbing kick. Slurping the mung bean noodles underneath that soaked up all the spicy goodness is a must! We also ordered Poached Sliced Beef with Enoki Mushroom and Vermicelli in Spicy Sauce (Half: HKD148). The beef was fresh and well-seasoned. Personally, I prefer the thick mung bean noodles to vermicelli. For dessert, we ordered Osmanthus Flowers with Rice Dumpling Soup (HKD32/ person) and Red Bean Paste Banana Spring Rolls (HKD42) to end our spicy adventurous dinner on a perfect note.
