After indulging ourselves with the satisfying takoyaki, we went to this TripAdvisor 4.5-star-Japanese restaurant, hoping to have some good ramen.
- THE RESTAURANT -
Bright and modern restaurant, fully-packed, good rating on TripAdvisor, a long queue outside the restaurant, these are all the good signs for an amazing feast right? My hopes were high. They even got those amazing window side high tables.
- THE DINNER -
The dinner started off with huge regret. The Shumai was disappointing and was a disgrace of shumai. A good shumai should be flavourful, with crunchy shrimps and bouncy pork. This has none. This is a dreadful flour dough with no single bit of flavour AT ALL. The only taste you get is the saltiness from the soy sauce. Our hope rose a bit when we saw the gyoza. This plate of barely hot gyoza looked a bit more promising. It was fair, well, at least it got slightly more a bit of taste than the shumai. The miso ramen was the best dish in this entire dinner. It was hot and it had a fair soup base and chasiu (barbecue pork). Our hope completely vanished when we saw the kimchi ramen because this was bad. The kimchi, after being washed by the soup, became plain cabbage. Even all the kimchi juice has been washed off by the soup, the soup, unfortunately, is still as bland as water.
- THE MENU -
Kintaro offered 12 different kinds of ramen, including Miso, Curry, Kimchi, butter corn, Mapo Tofu ramen.. etc. I have asked my waitress for a recommendation, and she recommended -- Miso Ramen. We ended up ordering 1 Miso Ramen set with Shumai (€9.5 + €3.5), and 1 Kimchi Ramen set with Gyoza (€9.5 + €3.5).
- WHAT ELSE? -
After the dinner, I read the review and found out most people were satisfied with other food items such as donburi and udon.
