- THE RESTAURANT -
The last stop of my Chantilly weekend getaway, Dame Juliette is only 10 minutes walk from the Chantilly Castle and the Horse Museum. This creperie is a colourful place with live music events on Fridays. You will be welcomed by a homey and warm atmosphere to enjoy your buckwheat pancakes and crepe. There are also different French card games if you want to improve your French!
- THE LUNCH -
Dame Juliette had a wide variety of galette choices that will propel you into a whirlwind of flavors that will make you travel around the world while staying in Chantilly. I ordered La Bigoud (€14). A galette with guéméné andouille, camembert, egg, caramelized onion, leek fondue. Melted camembert cheese perfectly blended with caramelized onion, sliced Andouille de Guémené layered on top with a soft, silky fried egg, all these goodness wrapped in a freshly made buckwheat galette. Andouille de Guémené a pork specialty that may surprise your palate! It is a typical sausage from a french region called Brittany, it is made from pork meat, chitterlings, pepper, onions, wine, and seasonings. If you are up for something more adventurous, you can order La Princière (€15). Smoked duck breast, mango, honey, fig chutney, and foie gras ice cream. Foie gras ice-cream got the texture of ice-cream, and you can definitely taste the foie gras, however, compare to the real foie gras, it got a stronger liver taste to it. This dish is fun to eat, and the ingredients pair up really well when you eat everything together.

- WHAT ELSE? -
They have gluten-free options. All buckwheat galettes are made of 100% buckwheat flour. All you need to do is to pick the one with no milk and egg, and you are all set :)
The restaurant also hosts music performances on Friday nights, make sure you make a reservation before going.
- FRENCH FOOD 101 -
Crêpes are sweet and galettes are savory. In English, both galettes and crêpes mean pancakes. Not like traditional thick fluffy American pancakes, French pancakes are flat and thin. Crêpes are made with white flour. You can often buy crepes with Nutella, sugar or confiture at street fairs and markets. For Galettes, they are normally made with buckwheat flour, you can usually find cheese, fried eggs, and mushrooms in it!
